@yourmusiceducationAhh 1962, the year the best-selling song of the year was a clarinet solo and the trombone-focused instrumental “The Stripper” held the top spot for one week. It was the best of times, it was the strangest of times. The Four Seasons led by their East Coast style falsetto held the #1 position on the US charts for 10 weeks and were the only act to have two chart-topping hits on the Hot 100 that year. Dances led the charts with the Twist, Peppermint Twist, Loco-Motion (everybody’s doing it), and even the Monster Mash (it was a veritable graveyard smash). AM Radio ruled especially with Wolfman Jack at the helm on the newly-revived 250,000 watt border blaster XERF broadcasting from Ciudad Acuña, just in the Mexican side of the Rio Grande from beautiful Del Río, TX (the audio clip from XERB in 1967-1968 is still representative of his style). #musichistory #learnontiktok #music #oldschool #yourmusiceducation #60smusic #1962 #wolfmanjack #amradio #thetokens #chubbychecker #brucechannel #conniefrancis #shelleyfabares #elvispresley #theshirelles #ackerbilk #raycharles #davidrose #bobbyvinton #neilsedaka #littleeva #thefourseasons #frankievalli #frankievalliandthefourseasons #bobbyborispickett #bobbyborispickettthecryptkickers #thecrystals #thelionsleepstonight #thetwist #pepperminttwist #dukeofearl #heybaby #dontbreaktheheart #johnnyangel #goodluckcharm #soldierboy #icantstoplovingyou #rosesarered #sheila #sherry #monstermash #hesarebel #biggirlsdontcry #telstar
