@yourmusiceducationReplying to @kzoorunningmom 1972 was a solid year for pop music. Many artists earned the first #1 including Al Green, Neil Young, Don McLean, the Staple Singers, Harry Nilsson, Michael Jackson (as a solo act), and surprisingly Chuck Berry—one of the original rock ‘n’ roll pioneers back in the 1950s. Roberta Flack scored her first #1 with her 1969 song The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face. The song had appeared in first-timer director Clint Eastwood’s 1971 film “Play Misty for Me” and the song’s popularity convinced Atlantic Records to release the song as a single, which allowed it to enter the Hot 100 and the rest is, as they say, history. #musichistory #learnontiktok #music #oldschool #yourmusiceducation #70smusic #1972 #nostalgia #throwback #donmclean #algreen #harrynilsson #neilyoung #america #robertaflack #thechilites #thestaplesingers #sammydavisjr #neildiamond #billwithers #gilbertosullivan #lookingglass #threedognight #macdavis #michaeljackson #chuckberry #johnnynash #thetemptations #helenreddy #billypaul #americanpie #letsstaytogether #withoutyou #heartofgold #thefirsttimeeverisawyourface #illtakeyouthere #leanonme #aloneagain #blackandwhite #icanseeclearlynow #papawasarollingstone #iamwoman
