@yourmusiceducationReplying to @reginecarter The US pop charts were quite diverse in 1973 as we saw a slow march from the sounds of the 60s to the sounds of the 70s. The counter culture and hippie aesthetic were still very much evident and yet a new wave of diverse musical styles continued to thrive. Roberta Flack spent 5 non-consecutive weeks atop the charts, Elton John scored his first US #1 with Crocodile Rock, Ringo Starr did so with Photograph, and two other Beatles (Paul McCartney with his band Wings and George Harrison) had back-to-back hits. Stevie Wonder and Jim Croce were the only two artists with multiple chart toppers. #musichistory #learnontiktok #music #oldschool #yourmusiceducation #throwback #nostalgia #carlysimon #steviewonder #eltonjohn #robertaflack #theojays #vickilawrence #tonyorlando #dawn #paulmccartney #paulmccartneyandwings #thebeatles #georgeharrison #billypreston #jimcroce #maureenmcgovern #dianaross #stories #marvingaye #helenreddy #grandfunkrailroad #grandfunk #cher #therollingstones #rollingstones #gladysknight #eddiekendricks #ringostarr #thecarpenters #charlierich #youresovain #superstition #crocodilerock #killingmesoftlywiththissong #lovetrain #thenightthelightswentoutingeorgia #tieayellowribbonaroundtheoldoaktree #youarethesunshineofmylife #frankenstein #mylove #givemelove #givemepeace #badbadleroybrown #morningafter #touchmeinthemorning #brotherlouie #letsgetiton #deltadawn #halfbreed #angie #midnighttraintogeorgia #keepontruckin #photograph #topoftheworld #themostbeautifulgirl #timeinabottle #70smusic #1973
